"In this cemetery several victims of the Fantastic Yellow Fever Epidemic of 1820 have been buried. Nearly 700 Savannahians died that 12 months, including two neighborhood medical professionals who missing their lives caring for hte stricken. Numerous epidemics followed. In 1854, The Savannah Benevolent Association was organized to support the familes of the fever victims."
