Why is it when people get colored contacts it's almost always for a light eye color?

Question by green.eyes.soft.black.hair.(:: Why is it when people get coloured contacts it's nearly constantly for a light eye shade?
As in gray, green and blue. You hardly hear of brown eye contacts staying acquired by lighter eyed people...so the question is why are lighter colored eyes much more "fashionable" than brown eyes? I never see anything mistaken with large beautiful brown eyes :)
